What happened to effects pool?

In FX10 the system supported an "effects pool" for sharing resources between techniques. Why was this functionality removed from Effects 11?

In Effects 10, the "effects pool" was often misused and the result was less performant than intended. The complexity of effects pools also greatly complicated the library. Therefore, for Effects 11 the "effect pool" feature was removed. Instead, the HLSL syntax now supports a 'group' and the related ID3DX11EffectGroup was added as a more efficient way to manage shader combinatorial issues.
